Chicago Style Pizza - Deep Dish Pizza

Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza

Ingredients for 1 medium size deep dish pizza

  • 2 Cups All Purpose Flour
  • ¼ Cup Corn Meal
  • 7 grams Instant Yeast
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 3 tbsp Vegetable Oil
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ Cup water
  • 3 cups mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cup pizza sauce
  • Parmesan Cheese
  • Sausage optional

Pizza Sauce Recipe

  • 2 Fresh Tomatoes
  • 1 Can Diced Tomatoes
  • 4 Garlic Cloves
  • 1 Onion
  • 1/4 tsp Celery Salt
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Black Pepper
  • 1 tbsp Italian Seasoning Not Heaped
  • Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil


Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza

  • In a bowl add ½ cup Luke warm water
  • Add yeast and sugar
  • Let it sit for 10 minutes
  • In the meanwhile mix dry ingredients for dough
  • Flour, corn meal and salt
  • When yeast mixture is risen mix it in dry ingredients
  • Mix well and add oil and little bit of water if needed
  • Knead well until you get a nice stretchy not sticky dough
  • Drizzle some olive oil and Let it rest for 2 hours
  • In the meanwhile make pizza sauce
  • When dough is risen knead again
  • Drizzle olive oil in a cast iron pan generously, brush on the sides as well
  • Spread dough in the pan and press it against the edges
  • Lest it rest for 30 minutes
  • Press the dough again in the pan and against the edges
  • Add sausage meat (totally optional)
  • Spread cheese (You can also add provolone and fresh mozzarella)
  • Pour pizza sauce on top
  • Sprinkle parmesan cheese
  • Drizzle olive oil on the edges of the pan and some olive oil on top
  • Bake on 350F until the crust is golden brown
  • Yes you may have to eat this pizza with fork and knife

Pizza Sauce Recipe

  • In a Pan add olive oil
  • Chop garlic finely and saute for couple of minutes
  • Add finely diced onion and saute
  • Cut tomatoes really fine or blend them
  • Add fresh and canned tomatoes
  • Add Seasoning
  • Cook thoroughly on medium heat. Keep stirring. Until it reaches your required consistency
